Quanzhou Textile And Garment Industry "Southeast Flight" Performance Soared
It is understood that in recent years, more than 30 textile and garment enterprises have gone out of Quanzhou to invest in factories in Southeast Asia. Last year, Quanzhou exported to ASEAN $451 million and $176 million in textile fabrics and textile machinery, up 33.1% and 21% respectively over the same period last year.
These enterprises, which first invested in Southeast Asia, have made profits both inside and outside the country, attracting more enterprises to explore and invest in Southeast Asia.
Data released by Quanzhou Customs show that in the first 8 months of this year, the export volume of Quanzhou's textile and clothing was 28 billion 870 million yuan, and the export volume in August was 5 billion 640 million yuan, climbing to the highest level in the year, an increase of 6.9% compared with the same period last year.
Since the beginning of this year, the share of textiles and garments in Quanzhou's traditional developed countries such as Europe and the United States has continued to decline, due to factors such as sluggish market, rising costs and widening domestic and foreign cotton prices.
From 1 to August, Quanzhou exported 5 billion 990 million yuan to the European Union, down 30% over the same period last year, and exported 2 billion 330 million yuan to the United States, down 7% from the same period last year.
However, in the emerging markets such as ASEAN and the United Arab Emirates, Quanzhou's textile and apparel industry is gradually gaining a foothold.
According to statistics, from 1 to August this year, Quanzhou's textile and apparel exports to ASEAN were 5 billion 590 million yuan, an increase of 28.2% over the same period last year, and 2 billion 890 million yuan for the UAE, an increase of 23.9% over the same period last year.
